Where are ceramic jars made in India?
Thangadh, in the Surendranagar district of Gujarat, is India’s largest ceramic manufacturing hub and a major centre for ceramic jars, pickle jars and pottery. We manufacture all our ceramic jars and lota at our own unit in Thangadh.
Are ceramic jars safe for storing pickles and food?
Yes. Our high-fired stoneware ceramic jars have a food-safe, lead-free glaze that is non-porous and non-reactive, making them ideal for storing pickles, achaar, oil and other acidic or salty foods over long periods.
What is a bharani or barni jar?
Bharani (also called barni, jadi or martban) is the traditional Indian name for a ceramic storage jar, most commonly used for pickles and preserves. We manufacture these traditional ceramic jars in sizes from 150 g to 30 kg.
What sizes of ceramic jars and lota do you make?
Ceramic jars are available in 18 sizes from 1/4 (150 gram) to size 60 (30 kg capacity). Ceramic lota is available in multiple sizes up to 15 kg capacity. See the ceramic jars and ceramic lota pages for full size charts.
Do you supply ceramic jars and lota in bulk or wholesale?

Is ceramic better than plastic for storage?
Ceramic is a durable, food-safe and eco-friendly alternative to plastic. Glazed stoneware does not leach chemicals, does not react with oil or acidic foods, and does not add any taste or odour, which is why it is preferred for pickles and water storage.
